Workshops to Use

Maltreatment of Children with Disabilities:

Children with disabilities have been found to be at least two times more at risk for abuse and neglect as other children. Yet, many child advocates are not aware of the research, the risk factors and what each of us can do to prevent and intervene in the maltreatment of children with special needs. This workshop, compiled by staff of the University Centers on Disabilities at the University of Arizona program site, includes opportunities for workshop participants to interact and brainstorm strategies for prevention and intervention.

This workshop is adaptable for one, two and three-hour formats. Excellent companion video resources are also listed.

Short Presentations for the Classroom or Other Groups - Child Abuse And Neglect: An Overview and Never, Never Shake A Baby:

One of the most frequent requests Arizona's Child Abuse InfoCenter receives is from students wanting a classroom presentation about child abuse and neglect. We consider each one of these an ideal opportunity to spread the word about child maltreatment prevention.

The suggested 10-Minute talks include note cards, outlines and fact sheets that can be presented "as is" or personalized for your audience. Quick resource links are provided for additional information.
