  • A study by the Crimes Against Children Research Center, funded by the Office of Juvenile Justice and Delinquency Prevention, found children at children's advocacy centers were more likely to get medical examinations and referrals to mental health services, and parents were more satisfied with the job investigators are doing. According to another study, conducted by the National Children's Advocacy Center, on a case by case basis, traditional investigations were 36% more expensive than investigations conducted in a community with a children's advocacy center.
  • Impact of the Mesa Center Against Family Violence on Child Abuse Investigations [pdf]*
by Gene Siegel, M.A., Children's Justice Project Consultant.
"This study involved a comparative analysis of child abuse investigations conducted in the Mesa area before and after the opening of the Center Against Family Violence (CAFV)." Cases included serious physical and sexual abuse cases investigated by the Mesa Police Department and/or Arizona's Child Protective Services during 1995 - 1998. Findings indicate positive effects of the CAFV and resulting benefits to child victims.
